New profile pictures preview and Splento on demand photoshoots review

I've known for ages that I need to get some new profile photos taken of myself for use on my blogs and social media channels. When the opportunity came up to try out the Splento on-demand photoshoot service I knew that this was my chance.

Splento gives you the chance to book a photographer for as little time as an hour and they will send you your edited photos within 48 hours. My photos arrived less than 12 hours after the photographer left my house, which was a pretty amazing service.

I am not a natural model at all. I find it hard to stand still, can't really smile normally with my mouth open (!) and have my eyes closed in photos at least 50% of the time. So having professional photos of myself taken is something I have been putting off.

However, as my blogs (I have a second blog cookveggielicious.com) and social media profiles grow I've realised that it's becoming increasingly important to have some decent profile pictures.

Now it's time to share them online I'm feeling nervous all over again but I hope you'll agree that they're great photos!

What happened during the Splento photoshoot?

The photographer, Giulia, arrived right on time. We did a quick recce of the house. I knew I wanted some kitchen shots but our kitchen doesn't have much natural light in it - and it was raining outside so there was even less than usual - so we decided to start upstairs in our loft which has a huge window and tons of light.

Giulia put me at ease instantly. She was friendly and chatty and clearly explained to me how she wanted me to sit or stand without making me feel awkward. I wasn't sure if we'd get everything done but an hour proved to be more than enough for me to get the shots I wanted.

She didn't bring a huge amount of equipment and took most of the photos with one camera without a tripod, only stopping once to change lens as the space in the loft area was a little tight to capture the shot below of me working at my desk. As an aside I LOVE my new workspace - the big window is so lovely to work by!

All in all it was a great experience and one that I would definitely recommend. The price of a Splento photoshoot starts at £99 an hour - including the finished photos. This is a lot cheaper than hiring a professional photographer to come to the house. Splento are available for all types of photography including events, corporate, new baby and family as well.

You can get a 10% discount if you book with Splento by using the following code: Mandy10

Thanks Jacqui! I don't have crooked teeth but I feel like I'm grimacing horribly when I try to smile with my mouth open!

Fabulous photos Mandy and well done for putting them up here. It's a hard thing indeed to post photos of oneself - or is that just me? Anyway, it looks as though the photographer did a good job and you now have lots of gorgeous photos to choose from.
