Hazelnut and chocolate smoothie bowl

Serve up a chocolate smoothie bowl for breakfast and you’ll get smiles all round! Deceptively healthy, this chocolate smoothie bowl is irresistible. A breakfast treat that the whole family can enjoy. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.

Equipment

Ingredients
 
 

  • 30 g hazelnuts soaked
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder or cacao or raw cacao powder
  • 2 frozen sliced bananas
  • 1 tablespoon tahini or nut butter
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds or chia seeds, optional
  • 2 dates chopped
  • 150 ml oat milk (you may need up to 200ml) or milk of your choice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

To serve

  • Blueberries
  • Chia seeds
  • Hazelnuts
  • Or toppings of your choice

Instructions
 

  • First soak your hazelnuts in boiling water for 20 minutes.
  • Drain and place in your blender along with 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, 2 frozen sliced bananas, 1 tablespoon tahini (or nut butter), 1 tablespoon flax or chia seeds, 2 chopped dates, 150ml oat milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  • Blend until smooth. Check the thickness - you are looking for the consistency of a very thick milkshake*. If you prefer it to be a bit thinner add a little more milk and blend again.
  • Serve with your favourite toppings.

  1. *If it is too thin add more frozen banana
