If you love educational toys then you’ll love the Veggie Farm Sorting Set by Learning Resources. It’s a fantastic counting toy for toddlers and pre-schoolers that helps them to learn their colours, numbers and shapes – all while having lots of fun.
The Veggie Farm Sorting Set is suitable for kids three and over. It’s a bright and colourful game with chunky parts that are easy for little hands to grab.
There are eight suggested games included. We started with the simpler games. Little S, who is now three and two months, loved the games and got the hang of them very quickly.
He enjoyed the challenge of matching the shapes of the plastic vegetables to the outlines on the cards and sorting them out by colour but his favourite was the spot the difference, which he found a little more challenging. To play this I put four vegetables on the table – three the same and one different. The fact that they’re all different colours made this trickier and he was very proud of himself every time he discovered the odd one out.
The games increase in complexity once your child has mastered the simpler ones. The more advanced options include memory games, practising counting skills, adding up and basic subtraction.
When my six year old got home from school she played with it for a good half an hour as well – first trying out the games in the booklet and then inventing her own ones.
The lovely people at Learning Resources have given me an extra Veggie Farm Sorting Set to give away to one lucky Sneaky Veg reader.
